Clinical Psychologist

$280 - per session

Registered Psychologist

$230 – initial session

$220 – subsequent sessions

Fees are due on the day of your appointment via credit card. As a client of our practice, your credit card details will be stored in Stripe (an encrypted system). Your card will only be charged when you attend an appointment or if your session fee applies in line with the cancellation policy.

Please note, we do not bulk bill. Gap fees apply with a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Session Fee Policy

Our practice has in place a session fee policy (commonly known as a 'cancellation policy').

If you need to cancel/reschedule an appointment, please provide more than 48 hours notice to avoid incurring your session fee.

If 24-48 hours notice is provided for cancellation/rescheduling, 50% of the session fee will be incurred.
If 0-24 hours notice is provided for cancellation/rescheduling (or in the case of non-attendance), 100% of the session fee will be incurred.

To change your appointment:

Changes to appointments more than 48 hours in advance can be made via the Client Portal.

For less than 48 hours notice this cannot be actioned via the Client Portal. Please email reception@curiousmindsstudio.com.au.

Rebates are not available for cancellation fees. Cancellation fees must be paid prior to booking in your next appointment.

Rebates

Medicare Rebates

If you have a valid Referral Letter from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 appointments per calendar year. Please see your GP to discuss your eligibility for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), and to obtain a Referral Letter to a Psychologist.

The Referral Letter must be dated prior to/the day of your appointment and contain:

The date of referral
The client’s name, date of birth and address
Diagnosis or symptoms
A request for services under Better Access and/or a statement about if a patient has a MHTP
The referring practitioner’s name, Medicare Provider Number and signature

Currently, the Medicare Rebates are as follows:

Clinical Psychologist - $145.25

Registered Psychologist - $98.95

Private Health Rebates

Please check directly with your insurer about your cover for psychology services and any conditions. An invoice can be provided to you for you to make a claim direct to your Insurer after your appointment. Please note, you are unable to claim both a Medicare rebate and a Private Health rebate on the same appointment.

Attendance Policy

Therapy is most effective for clients who make a regular commitment to attending and protect the time set aside for their booking.

In addition, your psychologist offers a limited number of bookings per week, ensuring that clients who are currently on their caseload can be offered follow up appointments within a reasonable timeframe. For this reason, your psychologist limits the number of clients currently on their caseload.

When there are frequent cancellations, this disrupts the flow of therapy and results in setback in treatment and delays in reaching therapy goals. It also impacts on your psychologist's ability to manage their caseload and knowing when to open their books to new clients who are seeking to start therapy. This leads to longer waitlists and delays in receiving help for those who may be needing it most.

For these reasons, our practice has in place an attendance policy:

Where three cancellations/reschedules are received consecutively or within an 8-week period, your psychologist reserves the right to cancel all future bookings and close your file.

We understand that life can become unexpectedly busy, so please let us know if you wish to pause your sessions. You are very welcome to re-engage in future if now is not quite the right time.
