Heal from trauma with
Cognitive Processing Therapy
Curious Minds Studio is proud to offer Cognitive Processing Therapy to support individuals to overcome and heal from trauma.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals to process and heal from trauma. Over the course of 12 sessions, you'll work with your psychologist to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs related to the trauma, replacing them with healthier, more balanced perspectives.
What types of trauma can CPT help with?
-
Physical, emotional, or sexual assault/abuse
-
Military trauma
-
Accidents, natural disasters, or violent crimes
-
Childhood trauma or neglect
-
Birth trauma
Benefits of CPT
CPT directly addresses the symptoms of PTSD and trauma. Individuals who have undertaken CPT experience:
-
Less flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts about the event
-
More balanced and helpful thinking about themselves, others, and the world
-
Reduced avoidance of reminders of the trauma
-
Decreased distress and improved emotional regulation when reminded of the trauma (e.g., less panic attacks)
-
Improved sense of safety and stability
-
Improved ability to foster healthy connections and relationships
Why choose CPT?
-
CPT is a structured treatment that, on average, lasts for 12 sessions.
-
It is a highly active treatment, with weekly sessions and daily homework tasks (usually one worksheet per day), so you can see yourself making regular progress.
-
You will work collaboratively with your psychologist to identify how the trauma has impacted you and your beliefs, and you will learn tools and techniques to create lasting change.
-
CPT improves symptoms of trauma and PTSD, as well as other mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety.
Clients need to be able to make a regular commitment to see the benefits from CPT. If the time is right however, it can be a rewarding and transformative journey.
