EMDR Therapy

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy for the treatment of PTSD and symptoms of trauma. It has been endorsed by Phoenix Australia and the World Health Organisation for the treatment of trauma.

At Curious Minds Studio, we understand that trauma can have a lasting impact.

EMDR Therapy offers a powerful, evidence-based treatment to help you heal and move beyond the weight of past events.

Why choose EMDR?

Evidence-based therapy

EMDR is a scientifically supported therapy designed to help individuals process and heal from trauma and distressing memories. Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR is now used worldwide for its effectiveness in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and other emotional challenges.

Structured approach

EMDR therapy involves eight phases which includes the psychologist's assessment and the therapy itself. Your psychologist will follow a carefully developed protocol to guide you through the phases of treatment. Within the structured approach, there is always room for flexibility to meet you where you're at.

Efficient progress

EMDR takes a different approach to traditional talk therapy. It leverages the brain's inbuilt healing mechanisms to reduce the distress associated with trauma, and foster a healthier perspective. Given this different approach, many people find EMDR to be a fast and effective way to reach their goals.

Broad application

Originally, EMDR was used for the treatment of PTSD and for processing traumatic experiences, but it now has a broader application and can be used to treat other difficulties such as anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, phobias, grief/loss, addiction, depression, self-esteem issues and more.
